Our established Louisville-based civil defense litigation firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our team. With approximately 30 attorneys and staff, our firm represents businesses, insurers, municipalities, and professionals in complex litigation throughout Kentucky and Indiana.

Practice Areas
Our attorneys defend clients in a wide range of civil litigation matters, including:
- Wrongful death and catastrophic injury claims
- Automotive and trucking litigation
- Construction defect and construction accident litigation
- Professional negligence claims
- Insurance coverage and bad faith litigation
- Municipal and governmental liability matters
- General commercial and civil litigation
Responsibilities
- Manage litigation files from inception through trial and appeal.
- Maintain case calendars and monitor court deadlines.
- Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and notices.
- Coordinate document collection, review, production, and electronic discovery.
- Organize and summarize medical, employment, business, and other case records.
- Assist attorneys with deposition preparation, expert witness coordination, mediation preparation, and trial preparation.
- Prepare exhibits, trial notebooks, witness files, and demonstrative materials.
- Coordinate communications with clients, experts, courts, opposing counsel, and vendors.
- Conduct factual investigations and litigation support tasks.
- Maintain accurate time and billing records.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of litigation paralegal experience preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of Kentucky and/or Indiana state court procedures; federal court experience is a plus.
- Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple active cases.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, electronic filing systems, and litigation management software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative team-oriented approach.
- Trial experience is preferred but not required.

ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY – Medical Malpractice
Barnes Maloney, PLLC, is a mid-sized law firm in need of an associate attorney with a focus on medical malpractice with 3-7 years of experience.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Medical Malpractice Defense Attorney based in Louisville, KY. The attorney will be responsible for representing clients in medical malpractice cases, providing legal advice, conducting research, and formulating defense strategies. Day-to-day tasks include drafting legal documents, taking depositions, and negotiating settlements. The attorney will also attend court hearings and trials.
Qualifications
- 3-7 years of experience in medical malpractice defense or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in providing Legal Advice and conducting Research
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage cases
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active state bar membership in Kentucky or Indiana

ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY – General Civil Defense
Barnes Maloney PLLC is a mid-sized, established Louisville law firm with emphasis on civil defense litigation. Barnes Maloney PLLC is seeking an associate attorney for its general civil defense litigation practice. For certain candidates, flexible working arrangements may be considered.
The candidate hired for this position will work collaboratively in a team setting with partners and associates defending our clients in civil cases, including personal injury, professional liability, construction claims, and cases involving contractual and extra-contractual claims against insurance companies. This is an excellent opportunity to pursue a career in litigation under the guidance of seasoned trial attorneys. Applicants must be licensed in Kentucky. Being dual licensed in Kentucky and Indiana is a plus. It is preferred, but not required, that applicants have one to four years of litigation experience in civil defense.
