About Cornelius Kearns

Cornelius R. Kearns joined Barnes Maloney PLLC in 2024 as an associate attorney. Neil brings several years of litigation experience from both the plaintiff and defense perspective, and now focuses his practice on medical malpractice defense, defending healthcare providers and facilities throughout Kentucky and Indiana (pending).

A Virginia native, Neil began his legal career as a medical records specialist at a bustling plaintiff’s practice in Washington, D.C., before relocating to Louisville with his family and pursuing his law degree. After clerking with a well-respected general practitioner in Lexington during law school, Neil returned to Louisville where he has represented injured parties, insurance companies, and corporate clients in auto and premises liability cases at all stages of litigation, including trial.

Neil enjoys cooking for his family, hiking Kentucky’s trails and, in a previous life, was an avid garage musician and pickup basketball player. Now his spare time is occupied in its entirety by putting socks and shoes on his toddler son and fortifying his kitchen countertops against invasion by his two hounds, Rufus and Gunnar. Neil is also an active member of the Deer Park Neighborhood Association and proud volunteer organizer of the inaugural Beer Park craft beer festival.
